Google Hack - Finding Accurate Results

Google Google all the way. Google here and Google there. When something becomes popular people start to find the ways to exploit it in all possible ways, be it with good intention or the bad one. Here we will learn about the ways to exploit the features of Google search engine to get more and better information. We will learn about the smart ways to search Internet with the help of Google. What we learn here is at the basic level and as one keeps exploring one finds more ways to use the techniques mentioned here

Although the techniques given here could be used in both wrong and right way, it depends on the person who is using it. Hence, I own no responsibility of implementation of the below mentioned techniques. I decided to present the information below with the sole intent of learning and sharing the knowledge with others.

Even though Google has put in loads of effort to build such a state of art search engine but users still find it difficult when they are looking for some specific information on the net. Sometime people spend hours even while using Google to find what they are looking for on the net. It is all because the user generally does not use proper search technique. This is what I am going to mention here. Have a look.

Operator “site”: This operator could be used to restrict the Google search results to the sites belonging to a particular domain.

Example:-

• Search keywords: site:hubpages.com packerpack
• Result: All pages of sites that are in the domain hubpages.com and that contains the word “packerpack”.

Operator “intitle”: This operator restricts the search result to the pages that contains specified title and specified text in the body.

Example 1:-

• Search keywords: intitle:packer pack
• Result: All pages that has word “packer” in title and the word “pack” in the body of the page.

Example 2:-

• Search keywords: intitle:packer
• Result: All pages that has word “packer” in title of the page.

Operator “allintitle”: This operator restricts the search result to the pages that has the mentioned phrase in the title.

Example:-

• Search keywords: allintitle:packer pack

• Result: All pages that has phrase “packer pack” in title of the page.

Operator “inurl”: This operator restricts the search results to those pages that contains specified text in URL and specified text in the body.

Example 1:-

• Search keywords: inurl:packer pack

• Result: All pages that has word “packer” in URL and word “pack” in the body.

Example 2:-

• Search keywords: inurl:packer

• Result: All pages that has word “packer” in URL.

Operator “allinurl”: This operator restricts the search result to the pages that has specified phrase in its URL.

Example:-

• Search keywords: allinurl:packer pack

• Result: All pages that has the phrase “packer pack” in its URL.

Operator “filetype”: This operator restricts the search result to the documents with specified type.

Example 1:-

• Search keywords: filetype:pdf
• Result: All PDF document files.

Example 2:-

• Search keywords: filetype:pdf packer
• Result: All PDF documents that contains the word “packer”.

Operator “numrange”: This operator restricts the search result to the pages that contains the specified range of numbers.

Example 1:-

• Search keywords: numrange:1-100 or numrange:1..100

• Result: All pages that has numbers in the range 1 to 100

Example 2:-

• Search keywords: numrange:1-100 packer or numrange:1..100 packer
• Result: All pages that has numbers in the range 1 to 100 and also has word “packer” in the body.

Operator “link”: This operator restricts the search result to the pages that contains link to the specified location.

Example:

• Search keywords: link:hubpages.com
• Result: This will return all pages that contains links pointing to “Hubpages.com”.

Operator “inanchor”: This operator restricts the result to the pages that contains specified phrase in the text of links present in its body.

Example:

• Search keyword: inanchor:packer pack
• Result: This will return all pages that contains the phrase “packer pack” in text of the links present in its body. It will be present in the text of the link and not the URL of the link.

Operator “allintext”: This operator will restrict the search result to the pages that contains the specified phrase in its body as text only and not in the title or link URL or link text. It will be present as simple text.

Example:-

• Search keywords: allintext:packer pack
• Result: Returns all pages that have phrase “packer pack” in its body as text. The phrase will be present as text only.

Operator “+”: This operator will return pages in the order of frequency of occurrence of the specified phrase.

Example:-

• Search keywords: +packer
• Result: This will return pages that contains the word “packer” in the order of number of times that they appear in the page. Page where the word “packer” occurs the most will come top on the search result.

Operator “-”: This operator will make sure that the result contains only those pages that DO NOT contain the specified phrase.

Example:-

• Search keyword: -packer
• Result: Returns all pages that do not contain the word “packer”.

Operator “”: This operator will make sure the result contains only those pages that have all the words in the specified phrase.

Example:-

• Search keywords: “packer pack”
• Result: All pages that contains the complete phrase ‘packer pack’.

Operator “.”: This operator is used as the wild card to represent single character.

Example:-

• Search keyword: packer.pack
• Result: All pages that has a single character between the words “packer” and “pack”. For example packer pack, packer.pack, packerXpack, packer_pack, packer-pack etc.

Operator “*”: This operator is used as the wild card to represent single word.

Example:-

• Search keyword: packer*pack
• Result: All pages that has a single word between the words “packer” and “pack”. For example packer in pack, packer the pack, packer going pack, packer on pack, packer and pack etc.

Operator “|”: This operator is used for logical operation.

Example:-

• Search keyword: packer|pack

• Result: All pages that has either “packer” or “pack” or both.
