Ability to manage the crisis situation:

This requires the skill to respond intelligently to a certain difficult situation by coming up with effective solutions and viable alternatives. One must have a calm attitude to deal with such situation and should think about all possible options with a cool head. To do all these things one must be patient.

Familiarity with the organization process:

It is important to be familiar with the basic of the organisation's top line and bottom line, so that you can estimate the likely impact of your performance and the repercussions of non-performance.

Ability to handle more then one task at a time:

It is competitive world and everyone is in look out to emerge as a winner and if you want to be a winner then one skill will not be enough. One should focus on having cross functional skills and be open to different job roles. Companies are in look out to cut cost and hence one will always be given a higher preference over the other if he/she has more skills. Hence it is high time to explore our hidden skills and harness it so as to turn it into our strong point.

Customer Focus:

This is the time to be closest to your customers, even if there's no business coming in immediately. This will not only improve your bonding and understanding with your client but you will also be able to understand their needs better. Not only this, an active interaction with your present client at the time of crisis will help you to understand the need of your new clients beforehand this in turn will help you to meet your new customer demands efficiently and quickly.

It is always best for an individual to have good terms with your client as these are the resources that are most valued by the companies.

Ability to give high performance:

Not only in business but in all walks of life high performers are given more preference, so no matter where one stands one must always have attitude to deliver the best. One must look at smarter ways of doing things, cutting where necessary, keeping an eye on growth and never miss any opportunity.

No matter what the scenario be, one must always deliver the best possible result. As it is said that practice makes a man (and also a woman) perfect hence more one strive to deliver the best, the more he/she will emerge as a winner at the time of crisis.

Flexibility and adaptability as per the situation demand:

Critical economic envorinment like it is now, requires energy and enthusiasm to learn new things, explore new roles and responsibilities.

During these times of crisis it is important to be open for any kind of relocation all as big business house have centres all across the globe. If the business in one centre goes down, one should be open to relocation to another centre where there's more project work etc. One must be enthusiastic enough to take the responsibility of his/her role and adapt himself/herself as per the situation demands.

Accepting to relocate out of ones comfort to new place and in a new environment makes a man (and also a woman) strong both personally and professionally.

Surely, this is no mammoth task and any one of us can hone these skills by being more self-aware and making an effort. Individuals can acquire these skills through training, experience, reading and job exposure.

To out it in a nutshell, if one follows these simple tips and adhere to what experts suggest, he/she will definitely come out a survivor!

Great advice. I'm a recruiter and there are 3 basic functions of an employee in a company, Make Money, Save Money or improve a process. If you don't do one of those well, you need to figure out how to and you will be in the best position to keep your job. Hmmm. Sounds like a good hub idea!

In bad times doing the job is not everything, you must use your marketing skills to be at the right place at the right time for your boss to notice you. You just cant count on luck for doing you favours.

Rightly said wiker, one should not wait for luck to act not only during these times but also in happier times.
