It has been more then a month since I last wrote here. I was actually confused about what to write on such that it helps others too. It is better to write about some real life problem or solution and that too which is experienced by one himself/herself. While I was actually looking for some topic to write on, I came to know some interesting facts about yoga from one of my uncles who practices it very seriosly. This gave a idea, why not write something on yoga itself. I won't go in too much of history about this Indian technique of keeping oneself healthy both physically and mentally. Although there are lot of things that can be told about various techniques of yoga but I will discuss here about the technique that I learned and have been practicing it for the past one month, and yes to be honest I have really started feeling the positive effect.

It's very simple, just 10 minutes a day! Surprised, isn't it? Just it check out. One more thing, just don't bother yourself with the complicated names of the excercise, it doesn't make any difference whether or not we are able to pronounce the name

I have written one similar post in my blog on healthy living. Do visit, where one can find many such related posts.

Kapalbhati Kriya (for 5 minutes)

Benefits:-Helps to reduce obesity; eliminates toxins from the air passages, thus cleansing body and mind; also combats asthma, constipation, arthritis and female-specific disorders; massages the abdominal muscles and organs.

This is the first workout to be done. To do this one should sit in sukhasana or padmasana i.e.- sit with straight back, folded legs, closed eyes and place your hands on your knees in a meditative posture. Now exhale forcefully through both nostrils, simultaneously pulling your stomach in. Don’t make an effort to inhale. Repeat it 40 to 50 times till you are tired, only the stomach should move not the whole body. Increase the process gradually to 80 to 100 times.

Bhunjangasana (for 1 minute)

Benefits:-Boost strength and flexibility of neck and spine, also aids kidney, liver and ovary functions.

This exercise is not recommended for people suffering from Hernia. To do this exercise one should lie on their stomach with forehead touching the ground. Place their hands, palms facing down, under the shoulders. Raise your elbow a little. While inhaling, raise the front part of your body and then very slowly raise your head and chest, arching backwards, without lifting the navel off the floor. Close your eyes and focus attention on your back. Keep your toes and heels joined; hold the position for as long as you can, breathing normally. Return to the original position while exhaling and relax. Repeat this three times.

Bhastrika Pranayam (for 3 minutes)

Benefits:- Supplies maximum oxygen to the body thus purifying the blood; balances the body’s blood, air and water; helps counter constipation, indigestion, obesity, asthma, low blood pressure and depression.

Sit in a meditative posture then exhale to your maximum capacity through both the nostrils, then inhale through both nostrils with full force. Repeat this process continuously till you feel tired. First do it slowly then speed up gradually. The time taken to inhale should be equal to that taken to exhale. Remember, when you breathe in your lungs should expand and not your belly. Similarly when you breathe out, your lungs should comeback to its original position. Repeat this process according to your capacity.

Kati Chakrasana (for 1 minute)

Benefits:-Activates the entire digestive system; improves functioning of the liver and spleen.

People who have had any abdominal or hip injury recently must avoid this workout. Lie on your back with your legs folded at the knees and heels touching the hips. The arms should be outstretched to shoulder level. Bend your legs to the right and turn your face to the left. Inhale and return to the starting position. Repeat on the other side to complete one round. Repeat this for 1 minute.

These 10 minutes of workout daily can help people to stay away from stress mentally and physically on a day to day basis. However for best results Yogic workouts should be done to the best of your abilities and not according to the time frame or any count.

It's a good idea - sustainable, rather than vowing to sudddenly start 2 hours a day!

Correctly said, even if someone starts doing 2hours workout it is generally hard to maintain this routine particularly in ones hectic schedule. Moreover this Indian art of keeping healthy is well proven and the best thing is, it requires zero investment. All that is required is, determination!

Awesome! I'm having the same dilemma, about how to write hubs that will really be of value to people, and I think you've accomplished that very nicely, here. :) I started practicing yoga again at the beginning of this year (after a 5-year hiatus) and after just 3 sessions of restorative yoga, I feel more energized and centered, and I've been inspired to start making some positive changes in my life. I've been looking for a quick routine to incorporate into my daily schedule, and I will start by testing this one out. Thanks for the great advice!

Thank you for your comments Melissa. Seems my hub has helped you. It really feels great. And you know what the best part of yoga is? Most if the times it is a free hand exercise. No need to lift heavy weight. And also it is free of cost, no need to goto any gym, you can do it in your home. All you need to know are the right kind of techniques.

Very true--I've also found that yoga carries over into other areas of my life a lot more than gym-based routines ever did. It transforms you from the inside out, and provides a lot more than just physical benefits.
